Generally, you need:

• Vodka – 80 – 90% proof

Begin With The Base Notes

Base notes refer to overpowering scents which take maximum time to get evaporated. When you spray the perfume on your body, the base notes will be the ones to linger for the most amount of time on your body. Frankincense, clove, ginger, jasmine, vanilla, rosewood, cedarwood, cinnamon and sandalwood are some of the popular base notes available on the market.

Add The Middle Notes

Middle notes are the ones which assist in making the base notes softer in potency, and create the right balance. Pine, lavender, rosemary, ylang ylang, juniper and chamomile are some of the popular middle notes you can make use of.

Add The Top Notes

The top notes are the scents which have the most powerful scents in perfumes, and are sensed the strongest by the nose. These are refreshing in aroma, and bergamot, lime, tea tree, sage, peppermint, lemon, grapefruit, eucalyptus and cinnamon are some of the popular top notes which are used in fragrances.

Adjust As Needed

Once you begin learning how to make perfume, you need to know that there are plenty of tweaks or adjustments involved in the process. In case you feel that you have to adjust the ratios, it is important to ensure you have to add extra top, middle, and base notes in a proper order – from the base to the top.

Store Well

You have to keep your fragrance sealed and stored for at least a couple of weeks for it to get aged. The potency of the perfume will be stronger, the longer you keep it stored. It is important for you to remember to shake your fragrance every day.
